SOCIAL MEETING. - The Committee and a number of the members and friends of the Arbroath Total Abstinence Society held a soiree in the Temperance Hall, John Street, on Monday evening - James Masterton, President of the Society, in the chair. After an excellent tea, the meeting was addressed by the Chairman, Rev. J. Sandison, and W. Davidson, Esq., Annfield. Parties from among the audience supplied the rest of the entertainment, consisting of songs, duets, and recitations. Misses Moltini, Masterton, and another young lady sung very well, and were much appreciated. Mr T. David, as usual, called forth roars of laughter by his humorous songs, &c.; Mr R. Ogg, jun., gave several recitations of the heroic stamp; W. Davidson recited "Bonnie grows the yellow corn," with his accustomed energy and spirit; while the singing of Mr A. Irvine and a young gentleman was well received and applauded.
